Seoul Beauty Brand Launches Across Three Southeast Asian Markets in Five Months
From Singapore holding company to subsidiary setup in Malaysia and Indonesia — with product registration, brand localization, and work permits for Korean staff — all executed under a single engagement.
Client Profile
Misora Cosmetics, a Seoul-based K-beauty brand with annual domestic revenue of KRW 45 billion (approximately US$34M). The company had built a strong following in South Korea through online channels and wanted to enter the Southeast Asian market, where demand for K-beauty products was surging. The management team had no prior experience operating outside South Korea.
The Challenge
Misora needed to establish legal entities in three countries simultaneously while navigating vastly different regulatory environments — HSA product notification in Singapore, NPRA registration in Malaysia, and BPOM certification in Indonesia. The Korean brand identity required thoughtful localization for each market. Three Korean executives needed work authorization to oversee the regional launch, and the entire operation had to be live before the Q4 peak shopping season.
Our Approach
NovaLink established a Singapore Pte Ltd as the regional holding company, then incorporated a Malaysian Sdn Bhd and an Indonesian PT PMA as wholly-owned subsidiaries — all three registrations initiated in parallel. We engaged local regulatory specialists in each market for product registration: HSA cosmetic product notification in Singapore, NPRA product registration in Malaysia, and BPOM product certification in Indonesia. Our team coordinated brand localization including Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia packaging compliance, Halal certification assessment for the Indonesian market, and regional trademark filings in all three jurisdictions. We processed Employment Pass applications for two Korean executives in Singapore and coordinated KITAS applications in Indonesia through our Jakarta team.
Results
- All three entities operational within 5 months — ahead of Q4 deadline
- 42 SKUs registered with HSA, NPRA, and BPOM across all markets
- Trademarks secured in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia
- First-quarter regional sales reached US$2.1M, exceeding projections by 35%
“We were terrified of the regulatory complexity — three countries, three languages, three different product registration systems. NovaLink made it feel like one project. They assigned us a single project manager who coordinated everything, and we launched on time for the holiday season.”
